Glitter Elbow Un-Patches

I had glitter + paint mixture left over from the triangle top DIY, and I thought – why not give a sweater some glitter elbows? They’re not quite patches, but this was during the holidays so I figured I could glitter whatever I want without giving a reason.

NOTE: [If you don't have leftover glitter paint - here's how to make it]

  1. Ah so cute, I love elbow patches, well I love all types of patches lol. I came across that first link before and I’ve really been wanting to try “needle felting.” Have you done it before?

    • Me too! And I’ve been thisclose to buying the felting needle and that weird brush thing you need for it the last few times I’ve been to JoAnn’s, but I convinced myself to leave without them out of fear of project overload.

Now you’ve renewed my curiosity – I’m going to see if I can wake up early enough to get the stuff before work tomorrow so I can give it a shot. I wonder if it’s as (relatively) easy as it looks?

  2. i’ve needle felted and wet felted-its so much fun! if what you’re making can be started as a ball, you can needle felt straight onto the wool top without the brush-just roll a circle of wool top in your hand (with warm hands), cup your hands together and blow hot moistury air onto it every now and then and when it seems to be forming a shape needle felt more pulled top onto the ball, effectively creating a bat as you go :) i used to sit in the canteen creating needle felt apples and such for art :)

terms:wool top-wool that you felt with. merino is the nicest on your hands and afterwards tho is expencive. it comes in a big coil of wool and you just tease it and pull little bits out as you need it.
: wool bat-not the creature. its where you lay the wool top out in a big sheet horizontally and then vertically to create essentially woven layers, for wet felting. you’d then rub them with hot soapy water to create a big sheet of felt
